Amaiwana's new project draws influence from Shibuya-kei, new wave, and techno-pop genres. Scheduled for release in October 2024, the project includes two EPs, 'new Shibuya' and 'new WAVE,' presented as a double A-side. Ginger Root, an American musician, contributed to the mixing and mastering of both EPs. 'new Shibuya' features the track "cover GIRLS," with a guest appearance by Maki Nomiya, the queen of Shibuya-kei. The album continues the spirit of Shibuya-kei into the Reiwa era. It also includes "Shanghai Girl," part of Amaiwana's "Shanghai trilogy," alongside previous releases "Shanghai Planet" (2020) and "Shanghai Rendezvous" (2023).
